A practical weapon...

The Goju-Shorei Weapons System features the Cane as a self-defense weapon.  The System was developed by Master Dave McNeill, 8th Dan Goju-Shorei Weapons/6th Dan Goju-Shorei Karate.  The Cane, often a symbol of helplessness, is a potent practical weapon that may be carried legally anywhere in the world.  Goju-Shorei Weapons Branch training is fully adpatable to any Martial Arts System.

Yellow Ranking...

The Yellow Rank is the cornerstone, the foundation, of the entire Goju-Shorei Weapons System.  It is a difficult rank to achieve.  It is important to establish a strong foundation and at this point you will be learning the Block Set, Strike Set, and Tip Set, with both the left and the right hands.  In addition, you will learn these techniques moving, and from a static position.  Dedication, attention to detail, and practice are crucial, for once these techniques are mastered, future achievement will be much easier.

Students will advance at their individual learning rate.  Progress will be affected by previous Martial Arts training, dedication, and instructor recommendation.

Students will be responsible for the following:

  • Interviewing with an instructor

  • Purchase of a Cane Masters training cane, or equivalent

  • Payment of testing fees

All ranking tests are supervised by an instructor and a panel of Goju-Shorei students.  Testing fees are paid directly to Master Dave McNeill and tests are video-taped.  Students may provide their own video equipment.  If the instructor provides video equipment and a person to tape your test, an additional fee will be charged.
